Care information
Care information
Your beloved Tayla Julie pieces should be the LAST thing you Put On, and the FIRST thing you Take Off.
Avoid Showering, Bathing or Swimming with your pieces. Keep away from harsh Cleaning Products, Lotions, Makeup & Perfume.
To keep your beloved Tayla Julie pieces in mint condition for as long as possible; we recommend Wipping over them with your Tayla Julie Microfiber Cloth after every use and store them in your Tayla Julie PVC Pouches.
How to Care and Maintain Your Gold Plated Jewellery:
Gold Plating is shiny and beautiful when new, but it can lose its shine when it comes in contact with environmental & man made elements unless stainless steel is used as the base metal.
Why does this happen?
Due to Gold plating being 0.5 microns thick it can easily wear off or flake down. This then exposes the base layer normally made of Brass, Sterling silver or Copper. When base metals are exposed to natural elements and Chemicals, it causes these base metals to corrode and tarnish.
When this happens even the protective layer on top of gold (the one that protects your pieces from scratches and damages) can do little to help. This is why proper upkeep is important to ensure you get the longest life possible out of your pieces.
How to Maintain The Beauty Of Your Gold Plated Jewellery:
- The Simplest way to keep your gold plated jewellery looking brand new is to Wipe it over with a Microfiber cloth after each use, which is provided in every order from Tayla Julie. This will remove smudges, surface dirt and oils from your skin.
- Gold plating is sensitive to Water and Humidity; so avoid wearing your gold plated jewellery when you're Swimming & Showering. Chlorinated, salt water and extreme heat can damage and discolour your gold pieces. We recommend to take off your gold plated jewellery before you head to the pool, sauna, ocean or shower.
(Copper based Jewellery will turn Black if Cleaned in Hot Water, this is why we recommend Lukewarm to Cold water only when Cleaning your pieces)
- Keep your gold plated jewellery away from Chemical products like Laundry Detergents, Household cleaning products; and Personal care items like Perfumes, Hairsprays, Lotions, and Creams. Acidic food ingredients like Tomatoes are also a no-no as they impact the gold plating which can cause it to flake or wear more quickly.
- Unless your gold-plated Jewellery has a Stainless Steel base, your sweat can create a negative reaction to the plating, so make sure to remove your gold-plated jewellery before exercising.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners to clean your jewellery as they make the gold layer flake, exposing the metal below.
When cleaning your Tayla Julie pieces only soak your Jewellery for a maximum of 5 minutes in Lukewarm to Cold Water. When adding Dish soap less is more, Two drops is all you need in a small bowl.
Note: Jewellery should be the Last Thing you put on when you are getting Dressed, doing your Hair, putting on Makeup or Perfume.
Note: Jewellery should be the First Thing you take off when Swimming, Exercising, Showering or doing an activity that could put your pieces at risk of oxidation.
Storing Jewellery Guide:
